COMPOSITION:
Each 5ml contains:

Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride            I.P.          8mg
Guaiphenesin                                             I.P.        50mg
Bromhexine Hydrochloride                       I.P.          4mg
Ammonium Chloride                                 I.P.      100mg
In a flavoured mentholated syrupy base.
 
SPECIAL FEATURES OF Torex-SF:
It eases the uncomfortable symptoms like hacking cough or scratchy throat that come from the sinus drainage during common cold. Taking sugar-containing medicines increases risk of dental caries in children as well as adults which gets avoided by using sugar free options in medicines. Effective option for a diabetic patient because it does not raise blood sugar levels. It reduces calories intake; helps you attain and maintain a healthy body weight, and thereby lessen the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
 
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride is an antihistamine that works by competing with free histamine for binding at H1 receptor sites effects and prevents allergic reactions. Ammonium chloride is an expectorant i.e. loosens mucus in case of cough and related conditions. Guaiphenesin also acts as an expectorant and helps loosen up phlegm making it easier to cough it up. Bromhexine Hydrochloride is a mucolytic, an agent which breaks down mucus, so that coughing up phlegm is easier. Menthol has a cooling effect in the mouth.
 

 
INDICATIONS:
For symptomatic relief from dry cough occurring in patients with upper respiratory infections, smoker's cough, allergic cough and in prevention of cough in the immediate postoperative period.
 
SIDE EFFECTS:
Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, constipation, nausea or anxiety may occur.
 
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Contra-indicated in respiratory depression, especially in the presence of cyanosis and excessive bronchial secretion. Should not be given during an attack of bronchial asthma or in heart failure secondary to chronic lung disease. It is also contra-indicated in the presence of acute alcoholism, head injuries, and conditions in which intracranial pressure is raised. Contra-indicated in patients taking mono-amine oxidase inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping such treatment.


DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, cimetidine. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
 
PRECAUTIONS:

Tell your doctor if you have: heart problems, lung disease, depression, constipation, history of drug dependency, allergies (especially to narcotic pain medications). Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy.
